Up & At 'Em! Atom Ant...

Adamant, is that the right word? Atom Ant is adamant about his barbaric determination to fuse nuclear weaponry technology with his aspirational obliteration of Israel. If Israel, why not other countries whose policies run so counter to Theistic Iran's? Lots to choose from, among other Middle East countries, those who don't thrill to the thought of Shi'ite domination of the world of Islam, those Sunni-dominated countries who aspire to become what they already are.

Boasting his country's intent and early victories in their atomic drive, it's hard to know whether to take his delusional views of Islam wherein the Hidden Prophet's ascension is nigh unto reality into consideration when assessing his state of intelligence. Ahmadinejad knows the time is near, because he can detect the near-presence and see the shimmering haloed light announcing the inevitable - and then won't the rest of the world tremble in fear.

"They (world powers) were thinking that with each resolution the Iranian nation would retreat. But after each resolution, the Iranian nation presented another nuclear achievement" he boasts. He makes Egypt and Saudi Arabia extremely nervous. Syria is a client, Lebanon an uneasy target. And he has his other followers most certainly; Hamid Karzai thinks kindly of him, as does Nouri Maliki.

Both Iraq and Afghanistan are enjoying American and NATO support in attempting to control terrorist elements doing their utmost to destabilize their countries, but the country which is meddling in their internal affairs by supporting the same terrorists and their aims, is seen by each as a helpful force. Helpful in taking the lives of those very armed forces the West has sent to aid in their cause, but totally irrelevant to the mindset of these leaders.

Of course North Korea and Venezuela are also fond of Iran and its Ayatollahs, and more specifically the direction in which Ahmadinejad continues to take his country. His popularity owes much to his simple nose-thumbing activities at anything pertaining to the West and particularly the United States, so celebrated by all these rogue regimes.

So Iran, despite internal unrest is, according to Ahmadinejad "united and defiant" in its nuclear intentions. Those from within the country who counsel actions counter to Ahmadinejad's are summarily dismissed, as irrelevant by this former Republican Guard. His trajectory from radical religious student to Republican Guard, to mayor of Tehran was swift and smooth.

From marshalling and guarding U.S. Embassy personnel, to his political ascension, this madman has risen through the ranks of the enabled and the powerful. Just what this says about Iran and Iranian politics and society at large is problematic at the very least. Energy assets aside, the country is wasting its resources and its disposable income to achieve nuclear advantage at the expense of the country's economic growth.

Just as Vladimir Putin has placed former KGB functionaries in charge of Russia's energy output, just so has Ahmadinejad placed Republican Guard functionaries in charge of his country's energy resources, enriching them all, empowering all and in the process beggaring the country. They've much in common, not the least of which is their modus operandi.

Atomic ants on the surface of a fragile planet.
