Yes, we do. You are not yet legion, but you and your recruits are growing in numbers to threaten human life and decency throughout the Globe. You are deadly predators. You are the ones who feel justified in your atrocious bloodshed because you worship Islam, and jihad is an instrument of Islam, to destroy those who refuse to surrender to the religion that claims all others represent an insult to the one true god whom Islam personifies.

Sanctified by a man whose vision spoke of a following to be attained through conquest by the scimitar under the banner of a crescent moon and a cutting blade, a religion whose precepts were purloined from earlier monotheistic religions whose purpose it was to bring the cohesion of a divine belief and an order of compassionate behaviour to a world where human beings excelled in the imperative of survival guiding men to deprive others in a process of aiding self.

You are Boko Haram, visiting carnage on tribal villages in Nigeria, ravaging and pillaging, raping and slaughtering, leaving hordes of dead and wounded as demonstration that your god is all-powerful, taking life wherever it behooves him by your bloody-handed hacking, guided by the message of conquest.

You are Baathist Shiites in a campaign by the Syrian dictator to cleanse his country of the majority Sunni Syrians who believed it was their country too, but now understand in the wake of chemical attacks, barrel bombs, and helicopter gunship artillery that this was an illusion whose time had come to be dispelled through hundreds of thousands dead, and millions dispersed into other geographies.

You are the Sunni Iraqis offended by the neglect and oppression that has slighted your heritage in that ancient country that once presented as a biblical glory of human attainment, and has long since slipped into reciprocal mass slaughter to prove that the sectarian bias of your enemy is a mortal offence to Islam.

You are the Islamic State of Iraq and Al Sham, proudly ruling your caliphate, demeaning and avaricious, taking into slavery women and girls, crucifying and beheading those who displease your version of Islam that does not recognize the right to life of Christians, Yazidis, Jews, Shiites, or any other insults through their very existence to the nobility of Islamism.

You are the Palestine Liberation Organization which pioneered air highjacking to the high art it became when al-Qaeda co-opted it for a spectacular series of assaults against America on September 11 of 2001, then went on to breed innumerable offshoots that took so naturally to destroying the religious heritage of others, led by the Taliban and emulated by others.

You are Hezbollah who under the patient tutelage of the Iranian Republican Guard learned to love death and to anticipate martyrdom, in the process of mass slaughter, another competition between Shiites and Sunnis whose sundered view of Islam was recognized as hateful and deserving of death. Unity could still be found, nonetheless, in the shared detestation of Jews, and to that held-in-common pathology, deadly attacks on Jews merit co-operation.

You are Hamas, whose charter is the destruction of Israel, of reclaiming the land of Palestine for Arabs, despite that land always being the land of Jews, until Jordanian and Egyptian Arabs claimed first the nomenclature of Palestine and Palestinians for themselves, depriving the Jews of their named heritage, then Jerusalem, the ancient capital of Israel; for the Palestinians, denying the presence of the Temple of Solomon, and destroying ancient Hebrew artifacts with contempt.

Yes, of course, we know who you are. You are the immigrants all over Europe and North America, who recruit yourself into the glories of jihad. You are those who take up arms and join the conflicts you have yourself initiated to drown the Middle East and North Africa in the blood of your very own. And who then return to the lands that gave you haven, to wreak havoc and bloodshed there, too.

From London to Spain, America to Indonesia, Libya to Sudan, Toronto to Sydney, Lebanon to France, you are Islamists, you are jihadists, you are the mighty, smiting sword of Islam. You start in Israel, then travel to Europe and beyond, and return to Israel. Targets are carefully selected and assaults undertaken, the reward of dominating the global news as pleasurable as the rewards seen in wallowing in spilled blood.
