Infiltration's Deadly Focus

"There is some degree of social network here that seems to be involved in radical thought, but very few radicals actually become violent."
"Unfortunately, ISIS has been more effective in inspiring people to carry out individual attacks."
"If you're friends with a violent extremist, you are likely to be one [yourself]."
J.M. Berger, author, Jihad Joe: Americans Who go to War in the Name of Islam

"We've seen similar kinds of plots in many cities. These guys could just have easily been in Chicago, Denver, or Houston."
"The ideology that motivates these kinds of attacks, there are no geographical boundaries."
James Forest, director, University of Massachusetts Lowell Center for Terrorism and Security Studies

"Something very specific has happened to this generation in a post-9/11 world. They are asking questions that parents aren't answering. The loudest voices seducing these kids are extremists."
"It does not matter what's happening on the ground. It has to do with what's happening in virtual space around the world."
Farah Pandith, special representative to Muslim communities, U.S. Department of State/2009

"What makes Boston such a vibrant city also creates a level of  vulnerability We are going to see this kind of radicalization in any urban area globally."
Juliette Kayyem, former homeland security assistant secretary, Obama administration

Isn't it odd how apologists who bend over backward to portray young jihadists in their twenties, as 'kids' who have been led astray by malign forces setting out to turn them away from the peaceful religion of Islam -- toward the darker aspect of ideological Islam, the very root of the spiritual brainchild of a 7th Century Arab merchant-turned-warrior who wrote a religious manifesto for Bedouin tribes based on what he knew about monotheistic Judaism -- are so earnestly persuasive?

These 'kids' are old enough to graduate from university with their engineering degrees, marry and have children, conspire to build their little underground cells of hatred against the country that has given them and their parents haven and opportunities neither could have anticipated in their countries of origin, and plot vengeance attacks culminating in bloody atrocities. But they're just 'kids', after all, led astray.

After the mostly Saudi nationals succeeded in commandeering and crashing passenger jets in New York, taking off from Boston's Logan airport; symbolically reducing the lives of almost three thousand Americans to fleshy pulp and the signal buildings of American enterprise to rubble, Islamists cheered the audacity of their success, and Muslim 'kids' took serious lessons in the satisfaction of revenge served cold and deadly. For which they would be honoured, and ushered into Paradisaical harems.

Since that fateful day when the World Trade Towers fell, and the Pentagon of all protected places was smashed, and a crash into the White House was averted by the courage of passengers who preferred that the jet they would be victims in, go down in a Pennsylvania field, there have been a number of terrorist plots, not the least of which was Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev's detonation of homemade bombs at the Boston Marathon.

According to Lorenzo Vidino, director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University's Center for Cyber and Homeland Security, the Boston terror cases are striking in their number, and beyond ready explanation: "It seems to be more than a coincidence, but there's no good answer. The more you dig, the more you'll find", he stated. And that's the point; a naively welcoming and trusting social atmosphere perfect for infiltration.

There's a list of those 'kids', vulnerable to the incitement by recruiters to jihad who convince the faithful that they are evading their responsibility to Islam and its principles by not dedicating themselves to jihad, but it is incumbent upon all Muslims to attack non-believers, to deliver an indelible message of Islamic exceptionalism and conquest, inspiring fear in the hearts of non-Mulims to convince them to mend their ways.

And there certainly are those who believe that it is Boston area mosques where the clerics preach to the faithful, emphasizing the most basic duty owed to Islam, that are at fault. Imams who thunder that the 'kids' aren't taking their obligations seriously enough. Charles Jacobs, founder of Americans for Peace and Tolerance has his informed opinion, and that is that Boston's mosques are a hotbed of incitement to fanatical extremism.

Citing at least thirteen people linked to Boston-area mosques since the 1990s who have acted on some form of terrorist sympathy like Tarek Mehanna convicted of supporting al-Qaeda, and Ahmad Abousamra, on the FBI's 'most wanted terrorist list', currently in Iraq. "Boston is a magnet because of the universities, and the hyper-progressive culture and politics of the place, which give protective cover [to extremists]. They [the mosques' leadership] are promoting a philosophy that plants a bomb in the hearts."

Of the 'kids', of course in the hearts of the kids; he forgot to mention that element of the situation.

"The Islamic Society of Boston, which the Boston Marathon bombers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, attended has numerous connections to jihad terrorists. The Islamic Society of Boston was founded by Abdulrahman Alamoudi, the leading “moderate Muslim” in Washington throughout the 1990s. Alamoudi turned out to be an al-Qaeda financier and is now in prison. Alamoudi was also a close associate and financier of Republican power broker Grover Norquist. Convicted jihad terrorists Aafia Siddiqui and Tarek Mehanna had also been members of the Islamic Society of Boston."
"The former imam of the Islamic Society of Boston, Suhaib Webb, is revered in the mainstream media as a “moderate,” but he has actually denounced secularism as a “radical lunatic ideology.” Webb also once headed up a fund-raiser for a cop killer with arch-terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki. That didn’t stop the Boston Globe from running a piece several days ago titled “Inclusive spirit reassures Muslims after bombings,” as if Muslims had been the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, not its perpetrators."
"This was the same mosque about which Fox News reported after the bombing “has a controversial history, with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, terror funding and frequent fiery sermons.” USA Today added, “Its sister mosque in Boston, known as the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, has invited guests who have defended terrorism suspects. A former trustee appears in a series of videos in which he advocates treating gays as criminals, says husbands should sometimes beat their wives and calls on Allah (God) to kill Zionists and Jews."
