The Fireworks of Demented Psychopathy

"It sounded like fireworks. People were just dropping to the ground. It just kept going on."
"Probably 100 shots at a time. It would sound like it was reloading and then it would go again."
"People were shot and trying to get out. A lot of people were shot."
Steve Smith, 45, of Phoenix, Arizona, in Los Vegas

"We know nothing. If you told me an asteroid fell it would mean the same to me. There's absolutely no sense, no reason he did this."
"He's just a guy who played video poker and took cruises and ate burritos at Taco Bell. There's no political affiliation that we know of. There's no religious affiliation that we know of."
"My brother is not like you and me. He plays high-stakes video poker. He sends me texts that says he won $250,000 at the casino."
Eric Paddock, Florida
Zerohedge.com    He also reportedly set up a camera in his room, apparently to film the mass murder, and others in the hallway to capture police arriving. Before carrying out the shooting, he used a hammer-like tool to smash out two window in his room which he used to fire out of.

Eric Paddock spoke of his brother Stephen, a brother close enough to have taken Eric's children with him on a trip; trusted. His brother, although the owner of guns, never hunted, he said, though investigators discovered along with a multitude of guns, a hunting license. Their father distinguished himself as a psychopath, at one time on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list, as a fugitive bank robber. No one in that family would ever have suspected that one among them would become one of the most notorious mass killers in the U.S.

Yet his family describes him as quite ordinary aside from his penchant for gambling. Nothing existed in his past that would  alert them to a future where he would become psychotic and violent beyond anyone's imagination. He was a man who liked to spend time in Los Vegas hotels, gambling, in his retirement years. He liked country music. He considered himself a professional gambler. And he had a long-time girlfriend with whom he mostly lived in one place or another, Florida, Nevada, Texas, California.

Police recovered ten rifles from the former accountant's room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel where he was staying until this past Sunday. The Mandalay Bay hotel overlooks grounds below where a music festival was ongoing, and where an estimated crowd of 22,000 people had assembled to listen to and enjoy their favourite music. In his hotel room, Stephen Paddock, 64, had two rifles with scopes that he had mounted in tripods. Located before two windows that had been smashed by the man.

How does anyone get to take what some claim to have been 19 weapons of that nature into a hotel? For that matter, how could anyone manage to take into a hotel room one rifle, a tripod and whatever else gear would satisfy their urge to wreak havoc and commit mass murder? A debate has ensued whether he made use of a fully automatic weapon, but from the descriptions elicited from those who experienced directly the terror of being shot at by sprays of deadly ammunition with no end, it seems conclusive that this is just what he had at his disposal.

Shooting from the 32nd floor of the hotel at people leisurely enjoying a music festival, crowded into the venue, and in effect, an unaware and innocent part of an improvised shooting gallery to satisfy someone's primitive barbarism, reverting to the atavistic role of mass executioner of those whose existence he clearly found fault with; their exuberant happiness as opposed to his misanthropic dysfunction.

The death toll is staggering; 58 people lost their lives on Sunday when this man staged his spectacular. What he might have gained in satisfaction from his planned and executed mass slaughter will never be known; he is dead and no one interrogates the dead. It's abundantly clear his family can add nothing of any value to explain the how and why. Over 500 people injured, many physically seriously, but all psychologically maimed by their experience with random terrorism. If this man wanted celebrity, he has it.

Even the cameras he set up beforehand to document the ravages his psychopathic act of inexplicable violence will never fully brief those tasked to the full investigation. That in the end, before police, clearing the floors of guests of the hotel one by one, reached the floor this man was on where he took two days to set up his 'operation', took the final step of suicide, is being questioned by conspiracy theorists convinced police found him alive and extinguished his life themselves, adds to the dark mystery of this extermination of so many lives.

Oh, and proud claims by Islamic State that this pearl of a human being had converted to Islam and clasped Islamic State's Islamofascist death-dealing ideology to his bleak heart.
