An Ontario business in Peterborough, Ontario has been vandalized, leading the Peterborough Police Service to investigate the event as a hate crime. Not too big a stretch of the imagination, since an anti-Israel group that has been outlawed in the United Kingdom under their terrorism laws, has quite publicly claimed credit for splashing red paint on  the building exterior of GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc. The company specializes on producing underwater acoustic systems, is headquartered in Nova Scotia, with a facility in Ontario.

Contacting the police, a concerned Peterborough resident informed them that there was "red paint and writing" on the building. On arrival at the site, police found damage on the building exterior, and further inspection revealed damage to a communication box on the GeoSpectrum property. The Peterborough Police Service brilliantly deduced that GeoSpectrum might have become a target as a result of its being a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, an Israeli defence technology company. 

A video posted on Instagram by Palestine Action Canada was proud to take responsibility for the damage inflicted on the property they connect to Israel's military-production establishment. In the video a masked individual is shown cutting wires in a dark room, a flashlight illuminating the scene of the crime. Additional footage is that of a masked man standing beside the entrance of a building splashing red paint on its front.

Blame is cast by the anti-Israel group on Canada for its purported role in support of the parent company of GeoSpectrum. "And our own settler-colonial state, so-called Canada, trades, buys and invests in Elbit. We will not stop until Palestine is free!" concludes the post. Or until they are brought to account, as a terrorist entity operating illegally in Canada. 

This is not the first and only time that Palestine Action Canada acted against a Canadian company it claims has connection to the Israeli defence industry. The group claimed responsibility for targeting a manufacturer in Concord, north of Toronto, when Dishon Limited was also vandalized. The activities of this  group have prompted calls on the federal government to recognize Palestine Action Canada as a terrorist entity and designate it as such under the Criminal Code.

The federal government was called on to designate the group for what it is, through a House of Commons e-petition that closed in September. The July event that involved Dishon Limited was presented in the petition as evidence of the campaign of direct action -- violent action -- against businesses in Canada, Palestine Action Canada operating as a terrorist group in Canada. 

"The appropriate authorities have been notified, and we are working with them as we assess the extent of the damage", a spokesperson for GeoSpectrum confirmed, in validating the occurrence of the vandalism, courtesy of the Palestine Action Canada group. Jewish advocacy group B'nai Brith Canada urged the federal government in May to take action against the group following its release of a map of locations to "target", citing ties to Israel, within Canada.

According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Palestine Action "has supported numerous acts of terrorism since July 2020". Sanctions were issued against the group in the United States. Canadian authorities are in no great hurry to sanction the group that has clearly committed violent criminal activities, threatening even greater such unlawful actions crying out for arrests, and judicial proceedings including both prison sentences and deportation when appropriate.
