Generous Islamic Republic of Iran

"The people of southern Lebanon really appreciate Iran. It was the only country that really took care of them."
Iran has aspirations of "taking care" of Israel, too. Not in quite the same manner as their fellow Shi'ites, but in a manner befitting the presence of Jews within Islam's geography. For that matter, The Islamic Republic of Iran aspires to "take care" of the rest of the Muslim world by demonstrating their able capacity to lead and control them all.

Their most powerful argument in that direction is the acquiring of atomic weapons. The better to threaten any possible dissenters with. No need to use them, since Iran is the very image of a human-rights-respecting country with a stern recognition of the delicate feelings of others, not so fortunate as to have been born Persian. Hitler's Aryan nation.

To consider it approaching provocation that Hezbollah is joyfully welcoming Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is to understate the event. Why not set those giant billboards of Mr. Ahmadinejad's visage to face within? What's the purpose of placing them on the border directly facing toward Israel? Ah, rhetorical questions that require no response!

Iran has been extraordinarily generous to Lebanon. If not the entire country, then the southern portion abutting on Israel, where reside hundreds of thousands of Palestinian Arabs, supported and defended by Hezbollah. Which has steadily gained power and is of sufficient strength now to oppose the Lebanese Sunni, Druze and Christians.

The theme park that Iran funded with its replica of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem is no doubt valued highly by the Palestinians. It faces northern Israel, and the deep-green fields and farms established there. Now, which is more useful to a country, the funding of a theme park or funding toward arable land, the greening of the desert?

Iran and its great good friend and ally Syria, along with their proxy militia Hezbollah all have plans for Lebanon. Syria would dearly love to flood Lebanon once again with its citizens and again exploit the country, withdrawing from its natural resources and economy food and funding that Syria could use to good advantage.

As for Iran, it would be content simply to ensure that Lebanon falls under its tutelage and control, as a satellite of the great Republic of Iran. Iran wishes to feel welcomed by Lebanese lawmakers, and sweetens the pot with a $450-million loan, and offering to train and supply Lebanon's military. Not all Lebanese are thrilled at these prospects.

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades, for one, has issued a warning that it too has an inspiration, to do their best to assassinate Ahmadinejad when he arrives in Lebanon. Good luck to them.
