There Is No God But God and Mohammad is His Messenger
"Hello everybody. Send an (Islamic flag) as soon as possible and one hostage will be released ... please broadcast on all media that this is an attack on Australia by the Islamic State. And number three is that we need Tony Abbott to contact the brother on a live feed and five hostages will be released."
"He says an eye for an eye. If someone else runs, someone dies."
"I have had a shotgun put at my head. Yes, we do need help, but that will only happen if demands are met."

Evidently things did not go according to expectations for Islamist jihadist Man Haron Monis. He had his demands issued to his orders, alerting authorities that the lives of his hostages depended on their following through on his demands. Somehow, deflating his expectations, no moves were made to satisfy those demands.
And the escape of five of the 17 hostages did not sweeten the temper of a man already under a black cloud of rage against the West for preying on his Islamist brothers in Islamic State. Now there's a conversion that some in the Muslim world might feel worthy of a death sentence; a Shiite Iranian choosing to embrace Sunni Islam in reflection of his newfound attraction to the sterling work on behalf of Islam of the Islamic State of Iran and Syria.
He warned those of his hostages who remained that should any of them attempt to free themselves from his hold, they would be responsible for the death of one of the hostages left behind. Who, in his fury against the willfulness of those disobeying his orders, he would be obligated through his sense of Islamist honour to kill another hostage to deliver a message that hostages are expected to behave themselves as ordered.
When the ordered message of Jarrod Hoffman brought no response, the Iranian cleric ordered another hostage, Selina Win Pe, to film a message repeating the same requests; the flag, the line to the prime minister and for a posting on YouTube of the message. She then stated: "We have three specific requests and none of these have been met". And nor was this additional attempt to reason with the authorities.
No doubt infuriating Mr. Monis further, a man whom stress and energy output were rising and declining in that order, as the hours went on and his patience ebbed. With exhaustion setting in and sleep spontaneously overtaking him, the cafe manager, Tori Johnson felt he should take the risk of attempting to take possession of the hostage-taker's weapon. His action fully restored the cleric to action, resulting in Mr. Johnson's death.
"Gunshots were heard, then police moved to an emergency action plan. They believed that if they didn't move then there would be many more lives lost", explained Andrew Scipione, New South Wales state police commissioner. Later, there were doubts whether police should have stormed the cafe in such a manner, but authorities insisted their actions had succeeded in preventing further loss of hostage life.
"How can someone who has had such a long and checkered history not be on the appropriate watch lists and how can someone like that be entirely at large in the community? These are questions that we need to look at carefully and calmly and methodically", admitted Prime Minister Tony Abbott, of a man who is suspected of being involved in the murder of his ex-wife, and who was charged and convicted of a series of sex crimes.
These crimes aside from his having excoriated the families of Australian soldiers who had been killed fighting the Taliban -- soul brothers to the ISIS terrorists -- in Afghanistan. And whose Islamist sympathies have never, apparently, been a secret, expressed loudly and often, by an obnoxious criminal who mingled crass criminality with a murderous Islamist ideology.
