The Tail Wagging The Dog - Again
Ancient Israel gave birth to itself and then it gave birth - however passively and without intent - to another great world religion. And then another. Miracle of miracles. Not only did the Jews of ancient times envision a grand celestially-dwelling illusion of spirituality for themselves, but they managed in a manner beyond their ken to stimulate the birth of sibling-religions. Which, like all siblings, engaged in jealous challenges toward one another, each insisting that theirs was the right passage to heaven's gate.Modern Israel was founded on the guiding principle that only when world Jewry had a homeland of their very own again would they be safe from the eternal predations of non-Jews; their scorn, their despicably inhumane acts against Jews, their discriminatory state policies against Jews throughout written history. So who might imagine that zealots, Christian missionaries would then see it as their life-mission to arrive in Israel for the singular purpose of cajoling Jews into the Christian fold and abjuring their own religion?
In the annals of historical chickens cackling hysterically in defiance of the egg having been laid by the original mother hen, this has few parallels. And of course, the third in the succession of religions that emanated from the Middle East, the second bastard-child of Judaism, is offended by its progenitor's presence for it became far more fecund than its parent, and handily over-ran the familial home.
Thus, when the restively violent antics of the self-obsessed child grated too deeply on the parents' sensibilities, another room in the shared house was emptied of its furniture and left to the madcap devices of the child. The most egregiously hateful of the children, named Hamas, ran amok within that abandoned room, and wrought havoc there to the extent that neighbours looked on with disgust and other residents cowered in fear.
Hamas celebrates its desecration of a synagogue within Gush Katif, Gaza. The area has become a staging playground for guerrilla activity. Human beings reverting to their primitive days as heedless primates, no humanely human considerations detracting from their war games. From the very precincts of the synagogues abandoned to enable Palestinians to make a life for themselves in the coastal strip, rockets are fired at Israeli towns. Former Israeli buildings have been transported in building-block pieces to provide the infrastructure for Hamas bunkers.
Underground tunnels and bunkers to serve as combat-ready emplacements useful against armoured tanks and infantry. These viciously intractable juveniles arrested in their formative years, never having reached the age of judiciously informed and responsible maturity spend their lives plaguing those among whom they reside, and those whose presence they remain determined to usurp from the family home. Their insolent demands upon the rational adults in the region know no bounds.
The assaults against Israel by the combined terror groups in the Gaza Strip having been temporarily suspended ostensibly as an opportunity for Israel to have some breathing space is fraught with black humour. The Popular Resistance Committees - how's that for an inflated sense of righteous purpose? - pose as Palestinian-sensitive and honour-bound warriors against an oppressor whom they have themselves groomed to defend against violence posing as "resistance" against the "occupier".
The siblings awaiting the parents' demise so they may inherit the estate.
In the meantime, during the hiatus of suspended assaults, taking the opportunity to build up armaments and become once again battle-ready. For Muslim the holy month of Ramadan commences, and in obeisance to their god of peace and good fellowship, it's the season to ramp up terrorist attacks. All that occurs is Israel's fault, however. Her very existence, her very determination to exist, her peoples' belief in their right to a national homeland of their own, an offence against Islam.
Israel, charges the PRC, is in violation of "the agreement" for the ceasefire. For not freeing sufficient numbers of prisoners in her charge - themselves criminally complicit in the ongoing terror war against Israel - with sufficient alacrity. Moreover, Israel's care in ensuring the border crossings are not used to smuggle terrorists and materiel is simply unsupportable; she refuses to co-operate in her own destruction - most peculiarly - and is therefore deserving of further attacks.
The international media, always hungry for breaking stories on the ongoing drama of juvenile melt-downs into elaborate hyperbole so typical of Arab society, hangs on to the warning words of increased violence should Israel continue to drag its heels in freeing hundreds of Arab terrorists so they may resume their divinely-inspired activities of jihad: "The Zionist occupation has not yet agreed to the demand to release our prisoners, so our fighters are preparing for the next round in which we will try to abduct more Israeli soldiers to swap them for our hero prisoners."
Those with the blood of Jews on their hands have been given special dispensation by Allah. In planning and executing bloody murder, taking the lives of as many innocent civilians as possible, their absence of humanity is subsumed by their devotion to Islam, their honour and pride restored. Arabs and Islamists acknowledge nothing of compromise, of mutually acceptable settlement of grievances.
Heroes, all.
