The Light Of Islam

God is the light of the heavens and the earth
The parable of His light is as if there
were a niche
And within it a lamp
The lamp enclosed in glass
The glass is as it were a brilliant star
Lit from a blessed tree
An olive, neither of the East nor of the West
Whose oil is well-nigh luminous
Though no fire touched it
Light upon Light! .... from the Quran

Islam, the religion of light, grace, mercy and brotherhood. Which it represents to many of its adherents, admittedly. The majority, we would so much like to believe. And that the rigorous fanaticism in Islam that we see exemplified in Islamist states like Iran is not representative of the entirety of Islam. Surely it is not. We can but hope.

Preparatory to that offence against humanity and human rights represented by the UN-sponsored conference that has become a seething misery of distorted accusations from the perpetually aggrieved and unforgivingly-'victimized' countries of the world, Iran, that paragon of Islamic virtue has itself mounted a conference on human rights.

Exhorting the Islamic countries of the world and the faithful in the ummah to gather their righteous indignation and collectively, with one sound and loud voice of anger, condemn the State of Israel for its crimes against the Palestinians. "The only way to save Palestine is resistance" urged Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, continuing the proud tradition of his predecessor, Ruhollah Khomeini.

"Support and help to Palestinians is a mandatory duty of all Muslims. I now tell all Muslim brothers and sisters to join forces and break the immunity of the Zionist criminals" he declaimed, exhorting his world-wide audience to their universal cause, railing against the "crime of creation and support of this cancerous tumour (Israel)".

The solution is at hand, as points out the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps: "Today the Islamic republic has missiles with a range of more than 2,000 kilometres and ... all the land of the Zionist regime including its nuclear installations, is within our range."

The summit was attended by neighbours such as Kuwait and Bahrain, South Africa and Nigeria, all pledging their support for the battle against the Zionist enemy. In the finest traditions of Islamist jihad, Iran has prepared her ongoing assaults against the Zionist entity with great care and fidelity to the purpose at hand: the destruction of Israel.

The country's commitment to forging anti-Israel alliances are secondary to its funding, arming and training of the two incendiarily-determined jihadist militias, Hezbollah and Hamas, in pursuing their mission of spreading the blight of Islamism.
