Encouraging Terror, Inciting to Violence

It's long been known that elementary and secondary schools in Arab countries rely on textbooks vilifying Israel as a usurper of Muslim territory, identifying Jews as viperous murderers with a passion for the blood of Arab and Muslim children. Those children are taught to fear and hate Jews, as a species apart and below the norm. A species they need not consider anything but sub-human, fearfully invested with a hatred for Muslims, exemplified by their predatory designs on Arab children, by their theft of Arab land.

Saudi Arabia's Wahhabist government has generously supplied textbooks abroad, texts that are used in Europe and in North America, in schools, mosques and community centres they have also generously funded. Among other reliable sources there is Tarek Fatah's Chasing a Mirage - the Tragic Illusion of an Islamic State that documents the contents of those educational assists for the impressionable young.

The Palestinian Authority, the moderate Palestinian group that seeks to forge a peace agreement with Israel that will permit them to fashion an independent state alongside that of Israel, has its own textbooks, along with television stations that demonize their neighbours, instructing children to hate and fear the monsters living alongside them. Loyalty to Palestine equates with hatred of Israel.

The 'immoderate', terror-committed democratically-elected government of Gaza has its own poisonous textbooks where Palestinian children in Gaza may be taught revulsion for Jews, and where they may also be instructed in the finer points of the holy struggle against the 'occupier', who long since left the territory to the merciless kindnesses of Hamas. That preparatory education leads to committed jihadists in their university years, if not before.

That's the highly respected and principled government whose fixation on destroying Israel drives its terror-inspired agenda. The Hamas government concerned with scoring death-points and inspiring fear within Israel, targeting its civilians, rather than with the social, political and civic well-being of the Palestinian Gazans. That same population that has proved so handy as human shields when a provoked Israel responds.

They've placed themselves well in the Territory, receiving covert aid as a duly constituted government while receiving public censure in response to their violent aggravations over the border. UNRWA, the single-purpose United Nations aid agency set up sixty years ago to aid and succour Palestinian 'refugees' still sees its purpose intact.

Refugee camps that would anywhere else in the world be correctly identified as working towns and cities, remain highly dependent on the universal dole, incapable, unwilling, to exert themselves toward the pride of their own accomplishment in self sufficiency. Rather than expend energy toward supporting themselves by virtue of establishing a working civic infrastructure and economy, extended hands receive UN-donated funding.

UNRWA has been so utterly infiltrated by Hamas members and supporters that it is now a creature of Hamas, masterfully engineered to control all its functions, and paid for by international largess. Hamas effectively, through a 'democratic vote' now controls all of Gaza's schools and academic institutions. One of UNRWA's functions is to resettle refugees. Its staff of some 24,300 (Palestinian 'refugees' themselves) have resettled precisely zero refugees over its 60-year existence.

The single other UN refugee settlement program, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has a staff of 6,300, responsible to assist currently over 37-million refugees world-wide, representing 110 countries. Their professional staff has re-settled 50-million refugees over the past half-century. Refugees have always resulted globally through wars, political instability. It is only the Palestinian 'refugees' that have become an implacable unsettled dynamic with no end in sight.

They await re-settlement. Not just anywhere. "Just anywhere" might have been accomplished over a half-century earlier, if the surrounding Arab countries had been amenable to receiving them and granting them citizenship, rather than insisting that they remain in 'refugee camps', festering in manipulated aggrievement, as a visible and wounded element to be used at the political convenience of an Israel-hating Arab collective.

That agenda hasn't changed. The refugees, their numbers swollen ten-fold from the original, patiently, bitterly awaits return to the land they left or were encouraged to leave, willingly, temporarily, or forcefully expelled. They will have the freedom to return in exchange for the destruction of Israel; all other public statements to the contrary of a willingness to barter and settle for peace.

Only one telling hint is the Palestinian Authority's official map which mysteriously shows no evidence of an Israeli state. There's another item here, the 'refugees' whose position is so highly dependent on continual hand-outs, so unable to instill self-responsibility, self-reliance, self-determination; how will it wean itself away from its dysfunctionality as a self-enabling society?
