Islamist Radicals and The 4th "R"
Islamism is the worship of Islam, a religion held holy by believers, turned into a social/cultural/political vanguard of a final point of triumph where all other religions are held subject to and inferior of Islam, and all those who dare flout the supremacy of Islam will be held to account. Violent jihad is the tool used to deliver the message, and the pious urging of jihadic-martyrdom held to be a blessing introducing the martyr to Paradise.Canada is a country of moderation, of egalitarian principles and core values that do not recognize denigrating others to gain strength for a particular cause, religion, ideology or culture. Canadians are loathe to challenge, on the other hand, any symbols or symptoms of such a pathologically degraded notion of religious superiority mandating followers to commit violence in the pursuit of their version of spiritual justice.
But there does exist within present-day Canada, a virus that has appeared elsewhere in the democratic Western world with the introduction of immigrants migrating from fundamentalist Islamist sources that threatens to overturn those Canadian virtues of tolerance and acceptance. A recently released Intelligence Assessment compiled by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service warns of radicalized Islamist youth.
Moreover, these Muslim youth who have been exposed to fundamentalist Islamist precepts and dogma injurious to the safety and security of Canada and Canadians are being indoctrinated right in Canada, at religious high schools that are private secondary school institutions. They use a provincial curriculum, and devote a portion of educational time to injecting radical Islamist values into the receptive minds of Muslim youth.
The report reveals that suspects charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act "appear to have been radicalized in part while attending Canadian secondary school institutions", where it has become obvious that "exposure to violent ideologies at this potentially vulnerable stage can set in motion a series of developments that can lead to actual acts of violence."
The label "Islamist extremism" is a red flag in certain Muslim communities, signifying that the West is out to destroy Islam. And the Muslim response must be to meet that challenge head on; violent intention begets violent action. The report pointed out how appealing the ideology of active, violent jihad appears to Muslim youth, leading for example to the 2006 arrests of the infamous Toronto 18.
The report, titled "The 4th "R": Radicalization and Islamist Extremism in Canadian Secondary Schools" was released in response to a request under the Access to Information Act. What it did not dwell on was the fact that there are mosques whose imams set the stage for the religious-based schools, imparting the values that must be transmitted.
Imam Aly Hindy of the Salaheddin mosque in Scarborough is one of those radical clerics who sneer at the notion of Canadian law, "...because everything is legal in the Canadian law, except children. Other than that, they allow everything." A corrupt, degenerate society, a typical Western society, but one which has been infiltrated by another culture, another society steeped in godly values. Imam Hindy refers, for example, to the 18 Toronto men arrested for terrorism as good people.

According to Imam Hindy the 9/11 attacks represented a joint CIA/Mossad operation. Director and president of the mosque, Imam Hindy refers to himself as a "fundamentalist" but not an extremist. An RCMP report nonetheless refers to him as a "focal point for Toronto area Islamic radicals. A New York Police Department report refers to the Salaheddin mosque as "a known radical mosque."Youth from the mosque hand out pamphlets claiming "hatred of Islam" informed the media reportage of the honour killings murder trial in Kingston, Ontario, where three members of the Shafia family, father, mother and oldest son have been found guilty as charged of the murder of three of the teen-age sisters, and the father's first wife.
"The case was exploited by the agenda driven media to vilify Islam and Muslims", simply because it is seen as the "role of the media .. to put pressure on Muslims living in the West to abandon Islamic values and adopt secular-liberal values instead." A former founder of the mosque left Canada to join an al-Qaeda-affiliate in Iraq. The infamous Khadr senior and his family worshipped there.
Imam Hindy offered to act as a surety for a man the government alleges to be a member of the Egyptian terrorist group Vanguards of Conquest on his application for release from detention. The judge rejected that offer, partially as a result of his having found that: "his published statements are open to the inference that he is sympathetic to or at least defensive of the threats of Islamic terrorism towards Canada."
But the congregation of the mosque think extremely highly of their imam, and the work of the mosque as a place of worship, prayers, religious and educational teaching with a charity operating two schools teaching Ontario curriculum and Islamic values. They are enthusiastically and handsomely funding the mosque which reports a growing financial support base, inclusive of funding coming from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Imam Hindy is firm: "The centre is continuing to serve the community in the best possible way." Which may be reassuring to those who treasure the mosque. Not so much to other Canadians, however.
