An Inconvenient Truth

Former vice-president of the United States of America, aspirant for the presidency, he became a crusader for the environment instead.  Throwing his formidable connections, passion and know-how into the role of environmental guru.  He lectured and he hectored, re-born to the role of evangelist.  His religion, the ideology of Saviour of the Earth.

He steadfastly informed the public of the inconveniences they had no real wish to linger on.  Modern lifestyles heaped upon the Industrial Revolution of historical fame, incrementally has endangered life as we know it, upon Mother Earth.  We have admired Nature in all her elemental and sumptuous guises, her designer animals and humans, the flora and fauna of the Globe that make this planet the green wonder that it is.

We have adored it and explored it, misused it and abused it.  And Nature is groaning in the pain of it all, courageously attempting to balance all the unnatural and disturbing elements we have pumped her Gardens of Eden full of, turning living green into black carbon.  We are destroying our natural home and the creatures within it and soon we will destroy ourselves in the process.

Unless we accept the dire necessity to put a halt to the unimaginable destruction we are causing, compelling the elements of our atmosphere, the circumstances of our dwelling place, to be irremediably corrupted and incapable of sustaining its vital balance.  We have, with our uncaring profligacy, created Global Warming with all the ills that attend that condition.

Most of them caused by the use of 'energy'.  The pumping of fossil fuels from below the surface of the Earth's mantle.  And we must cease and desist, or face the inevitable consequences.  Al Gore taught the world to respect his vision and to shudder at our frailties.  To consider and reconsider, to think wind power and aqua power and solar power and above all, carbon credits.

Mr. Gore is a great believer in carbon credits, he uses them fulsomely to accommodate his jaunts in jets worldwide.  Not to mention his energy usage far surpassing the average, living in a sumptuous mansion.  And to further his proselytizing he obtained a digital channel, naming it Current TV.  An obscure channel that few, in fact, became accustomed to gluing their eyes and attention upon.

So he surrendered his principles because nothing is as persuasive as filthy lucre.  And he sold Current TV to one of the largest pumpers-and-purveyors of oil on Earth, Qatar; its al Jazeera news arm, to be precise. Half a billion dollars is likely to turn anyone's head.  Mr. Gore's swung so far right from left that it's a miracle he remained swift-minded enough to ensure the deal concluded before the new year when his president's new tax rates would apply to his newfound fortune.
