Veritable Wisdom: Tick-Tock
"I like thinking big. I always have. To me it's very simple: if you're going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big."
"The worst thing you can possibly do in a deal is seem desperate to make it. That makes the other guy smell blood, and then you're dead."
"One t hing I've learned about the press is that they're always hungry for a good story, and the more sensational the better ... The point is that if you are a little different, a little outrageous, or if you do things that are bold or controversial, the press is going to write about you."
"In most cases I'm very easy to get along with. I'm very good to people who are good to me. But when people treat me badly or unfairly or try to take advantage of me, my general attitude, all my life, has been to fight back very hard."
"I never get too attached to one deal or one approach. I keep a lot of balls in the air, because most deals fall out, no matter how promising they seem at first."
U.S. President Donald J. Trump

What makes this man tick? Mostly admiration for wit and will; his own, of course. Dedication to self and self-interest; what others might term vainglorious narcissism. To Donald Trump it's just natural to look after himself; if he doesn't who will, after all? He enjoys controversy, that is controversy of his own making. It's a riff on that old entertainment observation that bad publicity is better than no publicity, in fact sometimes better since it draws greater attention.
Donald Trump approves of unctuous people surrounding him, of people fawning over him, since he is in total agreement that he is an extraordinary luminary, someone to be admired for his countless virtues, his high degree of intelligence, his ability to judge, his capacity to immediately grasp details and to interpret situations -- all to his advantage of course, in his own very exemplary manner. Anyone who submits to his authority without question is an admirable person.
People who express support for his initiatives are trusted people for their valuable judgemental capabilities. Contradictions do not sit well with Mr. Trump, nor resistance to his perspectives and determined positions. There is no denying that he can scent his advantage in any situation encouraging him to close in for the kill, as it were. He likes squeezing a situation for maximum discomfort for others to advantage himself toward a conclusion favourable to himself.
He won't stand for losing face. When that happens anyone incautious enough to arouse his displeasure, irrespective of their past favoured position in Trump's estimation and esteem, is in for a barrage of insults not only reflecting their political position -- certainly inclusive of other world leaders -- but their suddenly diminished personal attributes. He is relentless and he is assured that he is right and anyone who opposes him is not anyone worth cultivating.
His every twitch has repercussions on the marketplace of ideas, commitments, allies and economics.
His unrestrained twittering over how he sees the world and how admired he is as a stellar performer with a persona larger than life can be read daily, hourly, by-the-minute on Twitter as he impulsively tweets and roils the global community with his pronouncements and accusations. The china shop this bull cavorts around is the world at large placing everyone on edge and bestowing nervous tics on world leaders.
Truly a great man of unqualified virtue, a gift to the world. His mother would agree.
