Jihad: From Lethal Violence to Stealth Persuasion

"The process of settlement is a 'Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means."
"The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating the destroying the western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."
"It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny."
An Explanatory Memorandum for the Muslim Brotherhood's Goals in North America
Jihad: Holy or Unholy War?
John L. Esposito
The concept and practice of jihad have been critical in the history of
Islam.1 From the rise of Islam and the creation and expansion of the Muslim
community, jihad has played a central role in Islam. Jihad (exertion or struggle)
is sometimes referred to as the Sixth Pillar of Islam. Throughout history, (as in
other faiths) sacred scripture has been used and abused, interpreted and
misinterpreted, to justify resistance and liberation struggles, extremism and
terrorism, holy and unholy wars.
The importance of jihad is rooted in the Quran’s command to struggle (the
literal meaning of the word jihad) in the path of God and in the example of the
Prophet Muhammad and his early Companions. In its most general meaning,
jihad refers to the obligation incumbent on all Muslims, individuals and the
community, to follow and realize God’s will: to lead a virtuous life and to extend
the Islamic community through preaching, education, example, writing, etc.
Jihad also includes the right, indeed the obligation, to defend Islam and the
community from aggression. Throughout history, the call to jihad has rallied
Muslims to the defense of Islam.
Since the late 20th century, the word jihad has gained remarkable
currency: used by resistance, liberation, and terrorist movements alike to
legitimate their cause and motivate their followers. The Afghan Mujahiddin, the
Taliban and the Northern Alliance, have waged a jihad in Afghanistan against
foreign powers and among themselves; Muslims in Kashmir, Chechnya,
Daghestan and the southern Philippines, Bosnia and Kosovo have fashioned
their struggles as jihads; Hizbollah, HAMAS, and Islamic Jihad Palestine have
characterized war with Israel as a jihad; Algeria’s Armed Islamic Group has
engaged in a jihad of terror against the government there and Osama Bin Laden
and al-Qaeda have waged a global jihad against Muslim governments and the West.
The Muslim Brotherhood, the century-old Egypt-based totalitarian, political, exterminationist leader in Islamist conquest for the universal elevation of Islam and the subjugation of all people on the globe -- to submit to a religion conceived by an Arab businessman in the 7th century Mecca of the Middle East who diligently mined the prophets, holy concepts, and sacred human values of the Hebrew Holy Book to freely lift those precepts and philosophical, historical antecedents to be used in the conceiving of Muhammad's own rendition of a holy scripture, the Koran, which he held to supercede those of two predecessor religions; Judaism and Christianity, as God's 'final word' -- must be recognized for the danger it is.

Historical Muhammad: The Good, Bad, Downright Ugly - Apologetics

Since that inception in 1928 the Muslim Brotherhood has spread its tentacles throughout the world, with countless branches, both those dedicated to violent action -- in the Middle East, Africa and Asia -- and stealth persuasion -- in Western democracies; throughout Europe and the Americas, to use any and all methods between the two extremes to achieve the goal of Islamist domination. Recognizing its threat to their own status as governments, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood. It is past time for the West to catch up.

Moderate Muslim-majority countries are under attack by the Muslim Brotherhood's offshoots, just as Western countries are; the methodology differs, as do the techniques, but the end result is the same. Convert or die. Alternately, convert or live under Islam as taxed-and-tolerated inferiors.
Islam is  now the fastest-growing religion on the globe, likely to overtake Christianity within the next several decades. Where Christianity sees slumping followings, Islam's is expanding. And as it expands it also exports itself everywhere across the world.

Through immigration, migration, and refugee claimants, Islam is infiltrating everywhere. Muslims have a tendency to obey Koranic instructions to hold themselves separate from those of other, or no religious affiliations. And since Islam is an entire way of life, subscribed by the strict tenets laid down for Muslims through their holy scriptures, there is no assimilation within another culture, their values, acceptance of a different history, and above all, laws, other than Sharia.

Observant Muslims heed their obligation to procreation. Through the scimitar, the Koran and the cradle, Islam grows its ummah unrelentingly, the global presence of Muslims, either in Muslim-majority countries or through the limitless diaspora. And wherever Muslims congregate to become part and apart of an established presence in non-Muslim countries they agitate for Sharia law, arguing that their numbers reaching majority status demands it.

Oddly enough, for a strictly religious people, the incidence of crime among the Muslim population tends to be higher than for other groups. Illegal and criminal activities from human smuggling to trafficking in arms and prohibited substances such as recreational drugs go a long way to funding Islamist terrorism. Tellingly, Islamist groups have become proficient in their use of Western social and cultural concepts of fairness and equality, professing allegiance with social groups they have nothing in common with, and have no regard for, but to use them as helpful supports.

Appealing to the human rights due them, Islamists use the guise of victimhood to persuade social progressives abroad that they disproportionately suffer discrimination because of their religion, because of their culture and inherent beliefs, because of their skin colour, because their history is unappreciated, despite that Islam is a religion of peace. That criticism of Islam merely as a result of its proclivity to produce hordes of terrorists plaguing the world community in a violently constant replay of its founder's militancy of persuasion is 'Islamophobic', shaming the timid and the unaware to silence.

As the engine of Islamist totalitarianism the Muslim Brotherhood which has succeeded in inserting itself as an honourable representative of Islam throughout the West, with its machinations of its offshoots like    CAIR and its countless 'humanitarian charities' that purport to support the poor and the undertrodden in developing nations while siphoning the funds toward terrorism, it requires governments throughout the world to finally recognize its role in destroying what the Western world represents as democratic unions supporting human rights.

"The Ikhwan [Arabic for 'brethren'] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers [Muslims] so that it is eliminated and God's religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions."
From a 1991 memo of Muslim Brotherhood domination strategy

"[Canada has become] a hub for Muslim Brotherhood affiliated organizations that are exerting significant influence in Canadian civil society, academia, politics and government."
"[Many of whom have received funding from the government of Canada despite] verified ties to extremist entities, including Hamas."
"[The Muslim Brotherhood's] sabotage strategy [is clandestinely materializing in Canada]."
Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) report

ISGAP Urges Canadian Government to Designate Muslim Brotherhood a Terrorist Organization

The long-lived transnational Sunni Islamist movement with its goal of creating a global caliphate based on Sharia law is widely thought of as the most influential and largest Islamist group in modern history. The network is supported by powerful states like Qatar and Turkey. Both violent and non-violent forms of jihad are championed by the Brotherhood in achievement of Islamist supremacy. Its Egyptian founder Hassan al Banna stated in 1928: "It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet."

Al-Banna, a dedicated antisemite, and admirer of Adolf Hitler, had a pathological hatred for the West, Israel and Jews. Thought of as the "intellectual father of modern day jihad", Brotherhood idealogue Sayyid Qutib's radical prose outlined the ideological foundation for the Salafist jihadi movement, such that Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri of al-Qaeda were inspired to spawn terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Islamic State.

The Muslim Brotherhood is "the world's incubator of modern Islamic terrorism", "the world's most dangerous militant cult", wrote Cynthia Farahat, an Egyptian-American counterterrorism expert, in her book, The Secret Apparatus: The Muslim Brotherhood's Industry of Death. In the 1970s officially renouncing violence to achieve its aims, its support for terrorist groups and its actions in effect yet remain violence-oriented. Hamas was created in 1987 out of the Brotherhood whose international leadership directed its branches globally to support the terrorist group.

The very term 'Islamophobia' was popularized by the Brotherhood for the purpose of delegitimizing criticism of its Islamist ideology, with the intention of equating it with antisemitism, according to a leading scholar on the Middle East and Islam in the West, Gilles Kepel. Its success has enabled the Muslim Brotherhood to claim the moral high ground through implicating suspicion of Islam with victimhood. At the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation attempted to have criticism of Islam declared a universal crime.

Recently leaked, a French government report offered the most detailed official study of the Brotherhood's modus operandi and its European presence. The findings were ominous: the Brotherhood seeks to achieve its religio-political goal of gradual societal transformation; with plans to conquer not merely France, but the entire world of the West; findings that happen to reflect those of a similar 2015 U.K. government investigative report. Both France and the United Kingdom have effectively been flooded with a voluminous Muslim presence; the banlieus in France are unapproachable; both governments are wary of offending their Muslim demographics.

Canada presents as an ideal host for the Brotherhood given its permissive environment in the face of a newly fragile national identity courtesy of a decade of Liberal rule, its permissiveness of group-bloc votes, multiculturalism, wokeism and flagrantly oblivious immigration intake, including refugees and illegal migrants. The ISGAP report reveals an extensive ideological infrastructure the Brotherhood has furnished within Canada, through charities, schools and mosques, enabling it to infiltrate civil society and influence policy-generation under the mantle of religious and educational action.

Marc Lebuis, the director of Point de Bascule, an organization tracking jihadist movement in Canada. testified before a 2015 Senate committee, revealing that a senior Muslim Brotherhood leader in Canada had inspired Muslims to work toward influential positions in government and the justice system and from that vantage point, put a halt to applying legal provisions incompatible with sharia law.

In April, Jordan took the step of banning the Brotherhood which in effect posed a governing challenge to the Hashemite kingdom, joining Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates all of which had pre-dated Jordan's step by years previously. The sole western country to have banned the group is Austria. Designating it as a terrorist organization may yet eventuate shortly in the United States, where it is deeply engrained in the political and social fabric of the country.

It is imperative that Western countries recognize the danger represented by the Brotherhood, a recognition that now prevails in the Middle East. Its ideology promotes hatred, rejecting liberal democratic values and rejecting western justice. Their corrosive world view undermines social cohesion, fomenting division and radicalization where it establishes itself. In Canada, government should begin the process by eliminating public funding to its affiliated groups, and prosecute those who commit crimes, blacklist terror-financing fronts and publicly reject the entire Brotherhood apparatus.

Islamist Caliphate Group Retreating to the Dark Recesses of Jihad

"Until they can provide the right guidelines for the organization's English-language speaking areas they will avoid, as much as possible, their membership and activists making statements in the public arena."
"Unless they can control what their membership is saying in English, then they can't be sure that they aren't going to say something they will regret."
"Australia and Canada tend to, in counterterrorism matters, follow where Britain goes. It will be quite likely that if the ban and proscription in Britain is upheld by the British courts, they will apply the same thing in Australia and Canada."
"The Hizb ut-Tahrir rejects democracy, it rejects participating in governance with other parties, it rejects the electoral process as a method of gaining power -- the only way is by the overthrow of government by revolution."
"The Hizb ut-Tahrir don't engage in material action, does not undertake violent acts. They can, however, be accused of 'sanitizing terror ideology and calling for revolutionary change."
"They express quite extreme forms of antisemitism."
"They don't do it as a group, so their members don't engage in it [violent action]. Neither do they call for their members to do so. However, they do believe that military action to liberate these countries is acceptable There is an ambiguity there."
Rashad Ali, resident senior fellow, Institute for Strategic Dialogue, counter-extremist think tank, London, England

"As a listed terrorist entity in the United Kingdom, the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization should not be given an opportunity to promote and indoctrinate Canadians with their extreme and radical viewpoints through their Khalifah Conference."
"If it had not been pre-emptively cancelled, we would have expected the authorities to step in to identify it as a potential security risk and prevent the conference from moving forward."
Shimon Koffler Fogel, president, Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs

Following the U .K. declaring an Islamic organization a terrorist group, the Canadian branch of the group cancelled a scheduled conference meant to be hosted the past weekend, calling for the resurrection of the Muslim caliphate and the imposition of Shariah law. The plan was to convene the Hizb ut-Tahrir Canada conference in Mississauga. The Khalifah Conference 2024; Khalifah the Arabic word for caliphate, a Muslim community governed under Islamic (Sharia) law.

Posters, a website and a promotional video, reflect the group urging rejection of a Jewish state and the involvement of the United Nations, international law, or other 'compromises' in the Middle East, in favour of encouraging military forces in the Muslim world to defeat 'occupiers'. All meant for use during the conference. Those materials as well as its online presence in its entirety -- active since 2012 including a YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram and X accounts were deactivated or deleted internally.

Prior to its cancellation the annual conference was a cause of concern, given its statements: antisemitic, dedicated to eradicating Israel, and though not committed to violence on its own, supporting militant jihadi violence from well known sources. U.K. Home Secretary James Cleverly speaking of Britain's proscription order stated:
"Hizb ut-Tahrir is an antisemitic organization that actively promotes and encourages terrorism, including praising and celebrating the appalling 7 October attacks."
"Proscribing this terrorist group will ensure that anyone who belongs to and invites support for them will face consequences. It will curb Hizb ut-Tahrir's ability to operate as it currently does." The designation of a terrorist entity was effective from January 19.

A notification to registered attendees to the Khalifah Conference in Canada that the event was cancelled was accompanied with a note: "It is with a heavy heart that Hizb ut-Tahrir Canada has decided to cancel the Khalifah Conference 2024 because of unforeseen circumstances", apologizing for inconvenience, absent an explanation. Thematically the conference was dedicated to "Khalifah : Eliminating the obstacles that are delaying its return", with materials referring to Israel as "the Zionist Entity", emulating the Islamic Republic of Iran.

One of the keynote speakers, Muhammad Malkawi was quoted saying in a speech last month that if Muslims came together "You don't even need to fight for Palestine because there will not be a Jewish state there." He is based in Jordan, the location of Hizb ut-Tahrir's central headquarters. "He is very well known, very public, a popular speaker within the party and has been active for decades", explained Rashad Ali, a former leader with the group who now is involved in extremist deradicalization.

Another scheduled speaker, Mazin Abdul-Adhim is resident in London, Ontario, active on social media, describing himself as a Hizb ut-Tahrir member, his avatar on X, the logo for the cancelled conference. He reacted to Britain's ban stating: "By banning HT, they make us a much stronger force, impenetrable and absolutely bulletproof from their false allegations and lies". A similar conference is scheduled for March in Chicago, organized by Hizb ut-Tahrir America.

The organization has been banned in a number of countries, including Russia, China, Germany, Indonesia, and in most Arab countries. The group's message is one of overthrowing Muslim governments, posing as an enemy of many Muslim states. Ironically, it is not banned in Israel. The English translation of the organization' name is "Party of Liberation", founded in 1953 as a revolutionary party to serve as a springboard to power in countries with large Muslim populations in the spirit of unification to restore the Muslim empire of medieval times.

A Hizb ut-Tahrir demonstration outside the Egyptian embassy in London in November 2023 (X)
"[The British government says that Hizb ut-Tahrir] has a footprint in at least 32 countries [with its headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon]."
"The U.K. government assess that Hizb ut-Tahrir, including its national branches, is currently concerned in terrorism, and meets the 'promotes and encourages' limb of the statutory test."
"A number of articles were posted online on Hizb ut-Tahrir's central media website [and third-party websites], attributed to several of Hizb ut-Tahrir's branches, which celebrated and praised the 7 October 2023 attack by Hamas and associated events."
"The content of these articles, many of which refer to Hamas as 'heroes', and encourage further terrorist activity constitute the promotion and encouragement of terrorism."
British government statement
