"This is utterly reprehensible."
"[Incidents such as these] deepen fear and reinforce why so many in our community feel increasingly vulnerable ..."
"Condemnations are not enough. The Jewish community needs more than expressions of concern."
"It needs results."
Michael Levitt, president,  Friend of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Study

"We condemn yet more violent attacks on the Canadian Jewish community."
"These attacks are not only on Jews but on Canada's values and our democracy itself. [There has] not been a word from the advisory committee on rights, equality and inclusion, now responsible for determining the causes of antisemitism in Canada."
"As we have previously noted, this committee has members with no qualifications in issues of antisemitism and members whose prior associations should have disqualified them."
Hadassah Goldberg, CLARITY Coalition Canada

Canadian Jews have been left disbelieving. Never would it have occurred to them that the ancient pathology of Jew-hate that most Jewish antennae are attuned to would suddenly escape the confines of polite society to emerge as a storm of unadulterated antisemitism, boldly declared in the public arena, escalating to the point that the sewage of Jew-hate has become a threat to their very existence as Jews living in Canada. There is not one Canadian Jew unfamiliar with the syndrome, all have experienced it to at least a 'mild' degree from childhood to adulthood.

Jews have had a presence in Canada since the 16th Century; they are not recent immigrants.  The number of Jews in Montreal warranted the establishment in 1768 of the Shearith Israel synagogue. 18th Century Quebec City had seen Jews settling in as proud citizens, along with other parts of Lower Canada. In Trois-Rivieres, Ezekiel Hart was elected to the legislature of Lower Canada in 1807, but on the basis of his religion was denied his seat. Early arrivals in the emerging Canada of today, rife with antisemitism but a home to Jews.

In this more enlightened era where Canadian Jews known to have made a reputation for themselves as scientists and academics, industrialists and medical pioneers, researchers and writers, the place that Jews made for themselves in Canada emerged as contributors to Canadian advances in all spheres of human endeavour. Diaspora Jews valued their lives in the countries they became citizens of throughout Europe, Latin America and North America among other destinations. With the advent of the State of Israel reemerging in its ancestral geography it became another point of pride, passion and security.

It took only a few decades for Canada to welcome immigrants, refugees and migrants from parts of the world where the religion, history, culture and heritage was one of inherited antipathy to Jews and that viral antipathy accompanied them to their new home, their numbers among the general population steadily increasing to the point where politicians sought them out as a voting bloc irrespective of their inability and unwillingness to accept Canadian law, values and culture. This, in a society that valued its concept of multiculturalism as a great benefit to the country.

The outcome of which has been foreign interference in a programmed and organized campaign to slander and threaten Canadian Jews, based on their links to Israel as Zionists in support of that ancient heritage forever under threat by fundamentalist Islamists devoted to the jihad of the sword -- or bombs, beheadings and mass slaughter. A public relations campaign that introduced the West to a new phobia that was to be taken up and deplored as an assault on human rights -- Islamophobia -- became the darling of Western politicians courting the Muslim vote. And nor were the media confined to neutral reportage.

Public institutions and governments throughout the West developed an affinity for responding to Muslim invective against Jews everywhere and particularly Israel which soon became globally isolated every time its military responded to deadly attacks against the presence of the Jewish state. The slopover in Canada saw campaigns to delegitimize Israel, to boycott its products, services and academics in favour of demonstrating fealty to the plight of Palestinians 'victimized' by a country that would not allow itself to be attacked, its citizens murdered by neighbours plaintively calling themselves victims while attacking their 'occupiers' whose very presence 'oppressed' them.

In Canada, Jewish-owned businesses are vandalized, synagogues fire-bombed, Jewish parochial schools shot at, hateful marches through Jewish neighbourhoods harassing and threatening its residents, all with complete impunity. University campuses shut out for Jewish students and Jewish professorial staff frozen out by their colleagues whose support of the Palestinian 'cause' is paramount in their progressive-left Marxist embrace. One prime minister after another disinterested in the plight of that segment of the population in favour of deploring any symptoms of 'Islamophobia' should Jews point out the campaign of disentitlement of Jews in Canada is led by Muslims.

"[Should the attacks on the two Toronto Jewish bakeries be proven to be hate crimes, they would be] the latest in such attempts to harass the Jewish community and would represent an assault on all civilized Canadians."
"Rather than shine a light on the real threats facing Canada, including Islamic radicalism and the Iranian regime's tentacles in Canada, much of the news media has instead fixated on regurgitating pro-Palestinian talking points."
Robert Walker, Honest Reporting Canada

"Toronto's Jewish community deserves more than just thoughts and prayers."
"Toronto is not going to remain a city where Jewish store owners sweep up broken glass."
"We will sweep it up together. Indifference is indictment."
Toronto City Councillor Brad Bradford, mayoral candidate

Finally. After years of Canadian governments at all levels, from federal, to provincial to municipal tolerating the spectacle of massed protests against Israel, claiming it is engaged in genocide against Palestinians, calling for a global Intifada, chanting 'From the river to the sea Palestine will be free', chorusing 'Final Solution', tormenting and threatening Canadian Jews, while insisting on their right to ventilate through 'free speech', it has taken a group of non-Jewish Canadian corporate heads and their influential companies to counter the public Jew-hate-fest in demanding a cessation to the vile and viral antisemitism that has overtaken the country since the Palestinian terrorist attacks on southern Israel on 7 October, 2023.

Prominent Canadian business, political and educational leaders condemning antisemitism, speaking out for enforcement of anti-hate laws. These are requests made time and again by Canadian Jewish leaders in appealing to the federal government to take action against the constant agitation and slanderous charges made in public since Israel suffered its worst mass pogrom in memory. Where it has taken a carefully constructed and orchestrated public relations mission by fundamentalist Muslims and Palestinian-student-led groups to delegitimize Israel and threaten the security of Jewish Canadians to create a split in Canadian society of 'victim' and 'oppressor'.

Jews who have for years on end, decade after decade, been victimized by Palestinian-led deadly violence presented by their persecutors as 'oppressors', and themselves not as the vectors of hate and sadistic savagery in mass rape and murder, but the victims of a people asserting their historic place in the Middle East as ancestrally indigenous. While migrants from Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Iraq settling in historically Judean lands call themselves the original Palestinians, inheritors of Judea, Samaria and Gaza with a mission to slaughter Jews in pursuit of their aims of conquest of all that is not theirs.

Under the Liberal governments of the past decade a vast influx of Muslim immigrants, refugees and migrants have swelled the Canadian population where they now represent two million in total as opposed to the Jewish Canadian population of 400,000. Where in political terms two million become more influential at the ballot box than a group many times smaller, despite that the latter has had a much longer presence in Canada, helping to make it the country it has become, integrating within the general population while to the former the laws of the country become subservient to that of Sharia.

This is the Canada that prides itself on multiculturalism and equality under the law, guaranteed by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Yet although the Jewish Canadian community has been under unspeakable levels of duress and threats, existing laws, more than capable of addressing the situation fail to be invoked by any level of government, and police have acted to protect those emitting threats, while giving short shrift to the threatened, with rare exception.

Following the publication of that letter in the select newspapers of the Postmedia Network, Prime Minister Mark Carney has suddenly come alive, responding to the direct action demanded by the corporate signees. This is the prime minister who equates his rejection of antisemitism equally with that of 'Islamophobia'. And while it is Islamists that have lit the explosive social disgrace of antisemitism in Canada, to name them as such represents a clear instance of nothing short of 'Islamophobia'. A cardinal sin that will not be committed by Mark Carney.

Jihad, a Muslim's Destiny: The Muslim Brotherhood

Adil Charkaoui's speech to kill the Jews has drawn broad condemnation from politicians like Premier François Legault and groups like the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs. (Adil Charkaoui/X)

"An Explanatory Memorandum for the Muslim Brotherhood's Goals in North America."
"The process of settlement is a 'Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means."
"The Ikhwan ['brotherhood'] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."
"It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes and there is no escape from that destiny."
The Muslim Brotherhood

"Canada's permissive environment, shaped by a fragile national identity, a culture of victimhood, vote-bank politics, and unchecked immigration, has made it the ideal incubator for Islamist expansion."
"[Canada has] become 'ground zero' for their soft-power operations, from campaigns to criminalize 'Islamophobia' to the indoctrination of children under the banner of 'anti-Palestinian racism'."
Joe Adam George

The Muslim Brotherhood and its many associated arms well established in Canada as Muslim-Canadian groups whose purpose is to advance 'human rights', the protection of the Muslim-Canadian population of several million from criticism under threat of being labelled 'Islamophobic' in a greater society that shrinks from being thought of as 'racist' has infiltrated every level of society and government. Sitting in municipal chambers, on school boards, as directors in national public institutions, and among the professorial class in academia, advance a narrative of Muslim rights.

The installation of Islamic Sharia will once again crop  up as the Muslim demographic increases. Muslim groups, particularly those who associate their activities with the 'Palestinian cause', feel entitled to express their hatred toward a much smaller demographic of Canadian Jews by amassing mobs of anti-Israel, pro-Hamas agitators who have for the past several years since the Palestinian terrorist orgy of sadistic savagery in southern Israel on October 7/23, marched through city streets chanting 'globalize the intifada', 'Jews back to Europe', 'Final Solution', and 'From the river to the sea'.

In the process demonizing Israel as a 'genocidal' nation intent on exterminating Palestinians when it is the Palestinians who have for generations launched attacks against Israel and Jews, while Israel is left defending its population, against those portraying themselves as pitiable victims of Israeli aggression. The CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, originally established with a focus on the Holocaust, has decided to mount a permanent 'Nakba' exhibit, damning the creation of Israel, grieving the 'catastrophe' it brought to Palestinian ambitions to own the geography of Judean ancestral land. Isha Khan, the CEO, assures that the exhibit will undergo the strictest adherence to the museum's human rights goal.

While the American Congress and Senate are working toward blacklisting the Muslim Brotherhood and its arms like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Canada's Liberal government tolerates Islamist 'pro-Palestinian' marches through Jewish neighbourhoods, hostile gatherings of Islamists in front of Jewish old-age homes, parochial schools, and synagogues that intimidate and threaten Canadian Jews. Pro-Palestinian encampments on  university grounds that targeted Jewish students saw no action from any level of Canadian government to protect Canadian Jews.

That inaction led to criminal assaults against Jewish institutions and private businesses that were vandalized, fire-bombed and shot at. Public gatherings of Muslims for group prayer sessions, shutting down traffic and access to the public have been tolerated, as 'expressions of free speech and religion', while the very fact of that kind of 'occupation' is an Islamic expression of conquest of the public sphere. Canada's political, cultural and educational institutions have been subjected to entryism by Muslim jihadists using the soft-touch approach to insurgency.

Groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, members of the Iranian IRGC, are present in Canada representing the ideologies of jihad and terror, and official Canada does nothing to deter their presence, nor their criminal activities in money-laundering funds from criminal activities. The Brotherhood was described by a member of the European Parliament as "a clear and present challenge to European values" whose response was "to persuade the European Commission to change its policy and stop all contributions to Islamist organizations".

Ward Elcock, formerly director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) testifying on terrorist organizations that raise funds in Canada, warned Canada "cannot become, through inaction or otherwise, what might be called an unofficial state sponsor of terrorism", back in 1998. For the past ten years and counting, the government of Canada has been invested in appeasing Islamist terror, taking statements and accusations levelled against the State of Israel by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas as credible.

Slowly and surely the Muslim Brotherhood's silent stealth within Western countries, establishing itself as a legitimate voice of reasonable accommodation for the religion of peace as the true face of Islam -- as opposed to the murderously violent Islamist jihadists ravaging Africa, making incursions into Latin America, and roiling the Middle East, where most countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Jordan ban the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization --  has gained it a solid footing of trust, only now beginning to fray. But not yet in Canada.
