Vaccination plays an important role in keeping each other and our transportation system safe and secure. That is why we are ensuring travellers and workers in the transportation sector are vaccinated against COVID-19.

Since October 30, employers in the federally-regulated air, rail and marine transportation sectors have been required to have vaccination policies in place for their employees.

The vaccine mandate that came into effect in October has helped to protect transportation workers from the impacts of Omicron by reducing the frequency and severity of the COVID-19 illness.

With vaccination rates at home and around the world increasing, and the epidemiological situation continuing to evolve, it is important that Canada’s border and travel related measures reflect the current global and domestic context.

 

During the height of the COVID pandemic, Canada's federal lockdown strategies and inoculation mandates infuriated many Canadians. In particular a mandate that all truckers, including long-haul be vaccinated in line with government orders. Non-compliance would result in the nullification of truckers' licenses; they would effectively be put out of commission, jobless. It might have made sense for drivers of buses or any other vehicles where the drivers came in contact with other people, but truckers sit alone in their rigs, delivering goods, seeing few other people other than at delivery ramps.

 

A coalition of dissenting truckers began a cross-Canada journey in a convoy of like-minded people, all seeking to protest the government's mandates on COVID-19 infection prevention in a joint agreement that the government had gone too far, impacting the lives of tens of thousands unnecessarily and their plan was to confront the government directly, as they headed to Ottawa. Once there, the convoy parked their vehicles in the downtown area close to Parliament Hill, asking to speak to the prime minister who soon made his contempt for them and their mission a matter of public display.

 

In the central downtown area where the convoy was parked, friction between residents and convoy participants soon arose; commotion, blocking access to local businesses, noise emanating from the honking of the horns of the rigs, all conspired to arouse resentment and anger in locals. Justin Trudeau refused to meet with or speak to the organizers, one of whom was trucker Chris Barber. The upshot of a standoff where the convoy invoked their right to peaceful assembly and protest and freedom of speech, and the municipality of Ottawa dealing with neighbourhood complaints came to a head when the Trudeau government invoked the modern version of the War Measures Act (Emergencies Act) enabling government to put an end to the convoy's presence.

Part and parcel of the Emergencies Act implementation was to bring court cases against two of the more prominent convoy organizers, Chris Barber and Tamara Lich. As for citizens who supported the convoy with donations, they were identified and their bank accounts frozen. Draconian measures were imposed by government on any individual or group or company that had been involved in support of the convoy and its protests. Dramatic persecutory actions belying the democratic nature of the country. The Crown seeks a 7-year sentence for Lich, and eight years for Barber.

More recently Canadian cities have been witness to thousands of keffiyeh and mask-clad supporters of a terrorist-proscribed Palestinian group, Hamas, assembling time and again to block intersections, interfere with traffic, threaten Jewish Canadians, picket synagogues and Jewish parochial schools, vandalize Jewish businesses, call for a global Intifada, chant slogans calling for the destruction of Israel, intimidate and threaten those who disagree with them, and no government or police action has ever been taken. 

 

In those protests it is not uncommon to see the flags of Palestinian and Yemeni terrorist groups flown, even though these are recognized terrorist groups and are present on Canada's terror list, including Samidoun, which continues to have its headquarters in Vancouver, and continues its agitation, with the federal government looking the other way. Palestinian supporters have protested in front of the offices of Members of Parliament, they have interfered with public events and shut down special events, yet no official action is taken, even when pedestrian and vehicular traffic is blocked off for mass Islamic street prayers.

 

The long-standing persecution since 2022 of the convoy principals continues with a Crown forfeiture application to take the 2004 Kenworth long-haul truck valued at over $150,000 from the ownership of Swift Current, Saskatchewan trucker Chris Barber. Should Ontario Court Justice Heather Perkins-McVey judge that the truck was used in the commission of mischief, the truck called Big Red would be seized. "The Crown is trying to forfeit this truck and then destroy it", states Mr. Barber, pointing out "It's been my home fore the better part of 22 years". Where the collar of his dog Buddy, hangs from the ceiling. "The dog travelled with me for the better part of 17 years".

 

Both Barber, 50, and Tamara Lich, both Freedom Convoy organizers, convicted of mischief under the argument that the protest was the cause of broad community harm, have had many court appearances during their prolonged trials. Any unaffected objective observer would come away from the charade of government upholding the law on civil disobedience with its determined persecution of these people bearing the indelible impression that this is a government bent on vengeance, not upholding the law, applied unevenly to suit the mood of the government apparatus.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week marked the second anniversary of the 'handgun freeze', his sweeping crackdown on legal ownership of pistols which are classified as "restricted firearms". A restricted firearm must legally be: locked up at home, at a licensed gun range, or in the process of transport from one point to another. The handgun 'freeze' banned the "sale, purchase and transfer" of handguns. "We choose  your safety over the gun lobby -- every time", Trudeau declared.

Handguns have been placed in a category of stricter ownership rules than are "non-restricted" firearms like rifles and shotguns. Trudeau's statement let loose a cannonade of condemnation from police unions spurning a policy that Trudeau trumpets which in actual fact has no effect on gun crime. Police departments in Canada are fairly unanimous in stating that virtually all crime-related guns have their illegal genesis as imports from the United States.

A number of those illegal imports have been modified, their serial numbers removed, making them difficult to trace. Project Sledgehammer was the police investigation and dismantling of a gun smuggling ring. It led to the seizure of a shipment of "giggle switches"; black market devices that can transform an ordinary handgun into an automatic machine pistol.

Chief Duraiappah of the Peel Regional Police, west of Toronto including Mississauga and Brampton, stated that a decade earlier that if a criminal in the region wanted to acquire an illegal gun "it was doable, but it required a lot of work". Currently, Peel Police seize illegal guns every 30 hours; representing an 87 percent increase over the year previous. Even investigating an impaired driver might turn up one of these guns in his glove compartment.

Statistics Canada published 2022 data that "firearm-related violent crime" was currently at the highest rate on record since 2009. Recently, Statistics Canada published numbers indicating legal gun owners represented a small proportion of illegal firearms use. In their 2022 gun crime data analysis the agency recorded that the firearms used in homicides were rarely legal firearms used by their legal owners who were in good standing.

 

Widespread handgun possession coincides with a countrywide rise in gun crime, inclusive of fatal shootings. Shootings went up 92 percent in the past year, according to York Regional Police covering an area east of Toronto. The Surrey Police Union in British Columbia working in the high crime municipality face similar problems. "The federal handgun freeze fails to address the real issue: the surge of illegal firearms coming across our borders and ending up in the hands of violent criminals."

 

Coupled with the tsunami of illegal guns entering Canada from the United States, leading to a spiked crime wave, Police forces across the country point to another contentious issue outstanding between police and the Trudeau government; the fact that violent recidivist criminals are given bail or early release through the Trudeau-government-mandated soft-on-crime justice system.

 

Toronto police say a spike in gun violence this year is a city-wide priority. Over the past six days, there have been seven shootings in the city — including two that were fatal. As youth firearm arrests in particular skyrocket, police say an escalating amount of the violence is coming from gangs recruiting children. CBC

Conservative House leader Andrew Scheer is calling on the Bloc Québécois and NDP to support a committee recall to investigate the father-son Toronto terror plot. Scheer says the Trudeau government owes Canadians answers on how the duo  were allowed into the country. CBC

 

A probe is being called by Canada's Opposition Conservatives for a parliamentary committee to discern how it was possible that a man with a terrorist background was able to enter Canada despite his ISIS ties. A report a week ago from Global News revealed that 62-year-old Ahmed Eldidi, who was involved in committing violence with the Islamic State was able to immigrate to Canada.

 

The demand was made that a hearing was required in a recalled parliamentary committee to conduct an investigation and question Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc along with immigration Minister Marc Miller. The RCMP announced last week that its officers laid terrorism related charges against Ahmed Eldidi and his 26-year-old son Mostafa Eldidi. Both "In the advanced stages of planning a serious, violent attack in Toronto", prior to their arrest in a Richmond Hill hotel, north of Toronto. 

Nine different terrorism charges have been laid against the two men, including conspiracy to commit murder on behalf of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant  [ISIL]. Most charges relate to actions that occurred in Canada, but there are also charges against the elder Eldidi on a count of aggravated assault outside Canada. That was related to an ISIS video showing a man dismembering a prisoner with a sword.

Despite this background, including a video the pair had recorded holding bladed weapons standing before an Islamic State flag, immigration officials, the RCMP, CSIS and border security seemed satisfied that this man would make an ideal Canadian citizen. Leading them to allow Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi to become a bona fide member of Canadian society. His son, it has been ascertained, is not a Canadian citizen.

Under the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau temporary residents in Canada have risen to 2.5 million individuals -- six percent of the Canadian population. Immigration itself has risen in numbers under this administration to never-before levels of well over a half-million entrants annually. A process that has critically strained the country's social and medical services, alongside housing inadequacies to service the needs of incoming populations.

The usual argument is the low Canadian birthrate and the perceived need to augment the population with immigration, as well as the country benefiting from an increased workforce. Statistics Canada figures fail to support the workforce argument when foreign workers' unemployment was 22 percent in June even as the general unemployment rate stood at 6.4 percent. 

 

The critical issue is becoming increasingly apparent; an insufficient background check protocol is allowing a critical mass of criminals entry to Canada.

Specifically, Islamists whose agenda is upheaval and the spread of anti-democratic values while working toward societal divisions where celebrations of Islamist terrorism have become common occurrences on Canadian streets and universities. U.S. officials announced apprehending 233 terrorist suspects attempting to enter the U.S. recently from Canada. 

 

A warning was issued by a group of American Senators that the Trudeau policy on refugees from Gaza could end up allowing terrorists access to Canada.

A newly formed group, Lawyers for Secure Immigration, is advocating for improved security screening measures for temporary or permanent applicants for residence in Canada. That would include the 5,000 or so applicants from Gaza, inited by the Trudeau government to seek haven in Canada. The group's co-founder states they do not oppose authentic refugees but "won't stand for terrorists like Hamas and now Hezbollah taking advantage of the kind Canadian system".

Canadians can still expect their Liberal-Trudeau government to accept 485,000 immigrants for this year, and an additional 500,000 both for 2025 and 2026. That adequate security screening is taking place is not assured given those unwieldy numbers, as evidenced by the presence of Ahmed and Mostafa Eldidi, among many other malevolent figures who abuse Canada's hospitality and create chaos in their disruption of the social contract of equality and justice, in favour of their own malevolent agenda.

Trans-Affirming Toolkit for teachers, federal gov't funded

As difficult as it is to credit, the Liberal government of prime minister Justin Trudeau has financed a 'Trans-Affirming Tookit' for the use of teachers with a stated purpose to educate teachers on transgender-identifying students. This is a 100-page instructional to be used in Canadian schools, addressing social justice theory, leftist identity politics, and assertions relating to biology, history and sex.

Teachers are informed via this teaching tool that biological sex has seven elements to determine gender; no single element, it insists, can determine sex; certainly not DNA. No, the elements related to external genitalia, internal sex organs, gonads, secondary sex characteristics, hormone production, hormone response and chromosomes all come into play, and teachers had better familiarize themselves with all of them for they will be held accountable  for the manner in which they disport themselves in the classroom as advocates of promoting the well-being of .09 percent of the population.

Above all, teachers must flush out of their minds the wildly inaccurate assumption that people are either male or female, for this is clearly racist. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence and common sense, it points out, must acknowledge that gender norms are of European derivation, and since Europeans were colonial settlers that oppressed indigenous populations everywhere, so-called gender norms are inherently oppressive.

The instructional encourages teachers to 'audit' their personal views on gender and take the time to introspectively deconstruct them -- in the classroom. According to Statistics Canada, 99.7 percent of the population identify as female and male. The vast majority of any population are not trans-represented despite the toolkit insisting such assumptions to be cruel and unjust social constructs. Teachers would do well, the teaching tool emphasizes, to review their 'cis-privilege', and reflect on unfortunate instances when they made 'cisnormative assumptions'. 

Progress Pride flags should be on display in every classroom and gender ideology embedded in the curriculum. Teachers have an obligation to speak about trans people throughout lessons, and students should be taught about dogmatic privilege hierarchies that are the driving mechanism behind social justice. Teachers must consider reading books about transgender children to their classes. Students should be charged with completing gender-introspective worksheets.

In the toolkit, Critical race theory has its place, encouraging teachers to apply 'intersectionality' theory to identify layers of oppression. This new initiative can partner with the federally funded "Anti-Hate Toolkit" for teachers that speaks of the Red Ensign as a symbol of white supremacy. Wayne Martino, professor of 'equity and social justice education' at Western University had a hand in producing the Trans-Affirming Toolkit. Teacher trade unions are circulating the treatise to their member-teachers.

Canada has taken in -- and allegedly absorbed -- a whopping huge one million immigrants, students on study visas, refugees and illegal migrants in the year before this. Vastly in excess of any G7 country. A measure of the current Liberal government's commitment to grow the Canadian population as befitting a huge geographic area that is Canada, from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arctic. Canada's population has swelled to 40 million people. 

Some of whom are fortunate and prosper in the country north of the United States with its population ten times that of Canada's on a slightly smaller territory. Many of whom live in poverty or close to it, in an economy hit hard like all others around the world during the years of desperately coping with a world coronavirus pandemic. Now, the country is short of labourers and workers of all kinds, from construction sites to hospitals.

The cost of living has strained peoples' budgets, and those who can no longer cope have joined the legion of the homeless, living in shelters or on the streets. The once-vaunted universal hospitalization/medical-care system that Canadians were so proud of is being strained beyond its ability to cope with an ageing population, one that is growing even while facilities to look after their health problems are diminishing. Many Canadians cannot find a primary health-care physician.

Housing has become enormously expensive as the national housing stock cannot keep up with demand and building costs rise. Rental rates have expanded even as the number of rentals available to meet the demand have declined proportionally. Food Bank use has skyrocketed; more people than ever before using the Food Banks as stop-gaps between paycheques, while others cannot afford nutrition at the best of times.

Into this sorry mess steps economic migrants from Central America, Haiti and Africa, lured to a First World country advertising itself as open to refugees. Illegal border crossers from the United States into Canada have been welcomed in the sense that if they declare themselves as refugees seeking haven, they are permitted to fill out application forms and to enter the country to await a formal decision by the Canada Immigration and Refugee board. A decision that could take up to several years.

The illegal migrants gravitate to the country's cities where the social welfare system is expected to care for their needs; housing, schooling, medical care. While waiting for decisions on a refugee claim, the claimant may apply for a work permit, allowing them to take employment. In the interim, they become wards of the municipality where they settle. Toronto, Canada's largest, most populous city, takes the brunt of the migrants' presence.

Many are temporarily housed in hotels and motels, and when none are available, directed to a City of Toronto assessment and referral centre for the homeless. Toronto's homeless shelters are full, housing mostly Canadians who have fallen on ill times, but fully a third are represented by migrants, some of them entire families. Since there is no room at the city shelters, they wait indefinitely in the open, unsheltered until such time their need can be addressed.

They sleep in the outdoors regardless of weather, and many are unable to access sufficient food and water. They have started to set up urban encampments with the use of tarps, sleeping bags and blankets brought along by charitable volunteers. The situation is so fraught with discomfort of rough living that some are taken to hospital emergencies suffering physical and psychological afflictions reflecting their plight. They are in essence, abandoned by any level of government.

 

Municipalities have asked the federal government for funding and assistance, but to no avail. Those considered refugees are the responsibility of the federal government, under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The same federal government that allows record numbers of refugee claimants to enter Canada, but which has failed to distribute funding to municipalities, or to build additional shelters for refugees.

"That system [dedicated refugee system] has 2,000 spaces and is currently full. Up until June 1, to address the persistent demand, refugee claimants were also being admitted into the base shelter system. There are currently an additional 1,000 refugees in the base system."
